“Sashindo” is a Korean traditional painting that portrays four ancient East Asian Gods.

Since the past, Sashindo was considered sacred that these Gods were pictured and curved on the wall of the king’s room.

However, unlike the original, [Replica of paintings of animals of four cardinal directions] seems like a print that can be replicated limitlessly. The approach only imitated the original printing method, but the process is entirely the opposite - All of the paint and colors used were created one by one, and every single line was drawn independently. Very delicate and complex works were included that can not be mimicked.

This leads to a paradox - This is a print that is not printed.

With the age of infinite cloning, I wanted to portray artists’ suffering and endeavor that is veiled in the art industry through this project. In addition, I tried to depict the skepticism towards contemporary art is perceived by the public and the precariousness of the art industry.
